Battling Type I Diabetes

Amir

Amir Fath, 31, gave us an astounding account of his battle with Type I Diabetes in our April Seminar. Before being diagnosed, Mr. Fath was very physically active and enjoyed sports. He explains, “During the course of the time that I was diagnosed, having diabetes has really taken its toll on my energy level and my overall health. Not having energy to do the things I wanted to do like playing sports and being an active person really affected the quality of my life a lot.” He added, “My appearance before I started this program…was very, very pale. You don’t get the proper blood flow throughout your body. Your skin becomes a pale-ish, dull-ish color.”

TVE’s Qi Gong Kung Fu helps reduce the amount of insulin by almost 50% for Type I Diabetes…also helps manage blood sugar better.

“Being a type 1 diabetic, I wear an insulin pump and the amount of insulin that I was taking before this program has gone down almost 50% ,” Mr Fath continues, “I credit the program for helping manage my blood sugar better and as a result of that, my blood test since I’ve started this program have been the best they’ve ever been in 7 years since I’ve had the diabetes. My doctor is very impressed with the results.”

As for his skin complexion, “I’ve noticed that since I’ve started this program — people that are close to me have noticed as well — that my skin has gotten more of a natural, darker complexion, a more healthy complexion. No doubt looking at the before and after pictures, I can tell myself.”

With great satisfaction, Mr. Fath shares with us that “I started this program a year ago and over the course of a year my energy level has increased so much now… I have so much energy… I can do the things that I wanted to do before. …I credit the program for my success and recommend anybody who’s suffering from diabetes of any kind.

Lowering Cholesterol to a Point No Medicine has Achieved

Maryaan

Practicing TVE’s Qi Gong Tai Chi for 3 months lowered Maryann’s high cholesterol problem for the first time in her life that no medicine could have done.

My doctor says that a 400lb man has lower cholesterol than I do. He says it is genetic and I will never have cholesterol less than 200.”

Maryann Eck sought help from her doctor, and despite this diagnosis, she decided to do whatever it took to be as healthy as she could. Her cholesterol was usually around 350 which is very high. Maryann took up Bonsai as a hobby to relieve some of the stress and used salon pas for aches. She used so many, she told us, “My husband says I look like a zombie with all the patches on my body.” Despite her efforts to lower her cholesterol, her number never got below 213, but, since her doctor told her it would never be under 200 , she was, ‘. . . happy with that.’”

In speaking with Dr. Tran, she learned that TVE Tai-Chi could help lower cholesterol, and after practicing at TVE for three months, her cholesterol levels dropped to 194. Maryann tells us, “I believe in Tai Chi. I take medicines everyday and I walk about three miles each morning. I try to do everything, but only Tai-Chi can help.

Beating Chronic Back Pain

Liz Fletcher

Liz Fletcher sat down with Instructor Carranza in August 2013 to talk about the tremendous progress she has made toward eliminating long-term back pain. Describing how she started with Tran Vitality Essentials, she said, “I started coming to TVE because I was referred by my co-worker and I am so happy that she did [refer me], because I had been looking for years and years for something to help me with my pain.” Liz had suffered an accident when she was 10 years old, and had been in treatment for back pain ever since. She saw many medical doctors, chiropractors, and even had acupuncture treatments. Of the many pain medications she was prescribed, she says, “Nothing seems to work for me. I take pain killers, very strong pain killers when I have flare ups. That doesn’t work either; it’s kind of like taking sugar pills. It does nothing for

me. The pain can be excruciating, acute pain where I can’t walk. It affects my life because I can’t do anything for myself. I can’t even brush my teeth on my own because I couldn’t walk. I have to miss weeks from work, so that affects me economically as well.”

Liz had suffered an accident when she was 10 years old, and had been in treatment for back pain ever since. It does nothing for me. The pain can be excruciating, acute pain where I can’t walk. It affects my life because I can’t do anything for myself. I can’t even brush my teeth on my own because I couldn’t walk. I have to miss weeks from work, so that affects me economically as well.”

As her back problems morphed into sciatica, Liz’s pain only became more intense. She says, “As I’m getting older, it always comes back stronger.” Liz’s co-worker Angie has been practicing with Dr. Tran at TVE for many years. She had seen firsthand how much the TVE programs help not only general health, but with specific problems as well. She had urged her friend Liz to come to TVE for some time. It was only after learning that Dr. Tran also uses acupressure for short-term relief of back problems that Liz agreed to see Dr. Tran. “I came and I felt better [after] the first session I had with him for acupressure and Dr. Anh Tran recommended I attend his Natural Healing program. And I’ve been coming for a couple of months now and I can really tell a difference. I used to have to use a walking stick when I had flare-ups, and rely on other people to get around. I don’t have to do that anymore.” About using pain-killers, she says, “I haven’t taken any pain killers since I started coming here, not even Advil. It’s been very helpful; it’s helped my back. I can sometimes feel a little bit of a stretch there, but if I do Dr. Tran’s Healing Program, [and] I do the stretching and the exercises, it calms it down greatly.”

Liz was so amazed at how much Dr. Tran’s Healing Program helped her back in less than three months, that she agreed to be interviewed by Dr. Tiep Truong, a fellow practitioner of Dr. Tran’s Wellness, at TVE’s August information seminar. Dr. Thien-An Nguyen, a family physician, also provided some insight, saying Liz “probably has impingement of the nerve outlet. The spine shifted a bit; nerves passing through the hole [in the spine] will pinch.” Dr. Nguyen suggested that the problem was with vertebrae L4 to S1 or so. She says that when presented with back pain, doctors usually order an MRI, but there really isn’t any correlation between the results of an MRI and the pain experienced by the patient. Doctors recommend exercise and Ibuprofen to relieve inflammation. Dr. Tran’s program helps the spine come back into alignment to correct curvature and balance the gait, and it strengthens ligaments, she says.

Liz said Dr. Tran also helped with her Multiple Sclerosis; she has more mobility, is more flexible, and is not having as many muscle spasms. “…and I have received, aside from relief for my back pain, I have received many, many benefits. The major one is I can live day to day without having to rely on pain killers or on somebody else to assist me to do something. I used to be very, very careful about everything I did like every step that I would take. I was like ‘Oh, no, if I take the laundry out my back’s going to flare up.’ Because that did happen one time; I was taking laundry out and for the next two weeks, I couldn’t move. So I don’t have to worry about that anymore. I feel confident in my back and I don’t feel the pain. It feels stronger. I feel stronger too, not just my back. I’m really happy that I don’t live in pain anymore.”

Tackling Fibromyalgia

Katy

Tran Vitality Essentials is amazing!!

I’ve been taking classes for almost 2 months now, and I love the classes more and more every time I come.  I have taken Tai Chi other places, and always enjoyed it, but I especially enjoy Dr. Tran’s focus on wellness, and classes that are individualized.

Everything about TVE reflects Dr. Tran’s kindness and passion to nurture the health and wellness of his students.  The instructors are fabulous–they practice with a high level of excellence, and yet are so kind of encouraging, watchful to make sure each student understands the basics of each move and form, and altogether a joy to be around.  Every class is conducted with multiple instructors who correct and improve our form with a smile.  Even the space itself reflects this spirit of nurture–there are beautiful plants everywhere, a fountain, goldfish and a turtle.  Everywhere you look is something restful and beautiful.

Dr. Tran’s specialty is working with people who have physical issues.  I have fibromyalgia, which is a challenging condition to work with.  But I feel like Dr. Tran has been very perceptive and wise about his guidance, even understanding my personality, and tendency to push myself too hard.  There are others in the class who have bad backs and knees, and you can go to TVE’s website and see testimonies of people who have overcome very serious physical problems.

I can’t praise Tran Vitality Essentials enough!!!

Enduring Overreaction to the Cold

Glenn

Mr. Chicoine, 59, a teacher at Eastfield College, shared his testimony about how his condition of 25 years, Raynaud’s phenomenon, has improved with TVE.  Mr. Chicoine explained Raynaud’s phenomenon as “an overreaction to the cold, any kind of cold…in the peripheral blood vessels.”  It would often cause “an unusual blanching… [his] fingers and toes would turn white and blue.”  He further explained that “my time in cold [was] limited, even crippled and I was in danger of further disease arising.”  As a student of TVE for three and a half years, Mr. Chicoine explained how Dr. Tran “[kept] working on bringing greater and greater circulation and chi into [Mr. Chicoine’s] fingers and toes.”

As a result his “reaction to the cold…is shorter…”  He added, “in fact I’ve worked out in the cold bare foot and sometimes my feet stay pink.  I do have to say I don’t take medicine for the Raynaud’s so any improvement is attributable to the Tai Chi.”  Mr. Chicoine continues to enjoy Qi-Gong Tai Chi class with TVE every week and looks forward to furthering his benefits.

Moving Forward without a Pelvis

Chris

I lost part of my pelvis to bone cancer in 2000.  I used to run a lot, but could no longer do this without damage to my spine.  I’ve tried various other forms of exercise, including weights, yoga, cycling, and swimming, but nothing seemed to “fit” as well as running.  I would try something for a few months, then burnout, as I really did not enjoy most of these activities over the long term.

I started taking Dr. Anh Tran’s TVE Wellness classes last July.  After the first class, I knew this was what I was looking for.  TVE Wellness has helped me with physical balance, coordination, and overall strength.  Emotionally, it has helped deal much better with stress. Additionally, I have suffered from planar fasciitis sporadically for almost 20 years.  The pain disappeared completely in the first month of TVE Wellness and has not returned.  Recently, I also started taking TVE Fitness classes, in order to balance “hard” and “soft” fitness.

TVE Wellness is a good place to get fit and heal physically, mentally, and spiritually.  The instructors challenge you, but do not judge or look down upon you.  There is a wide range of fitness, age (pre-school to elderly), and ability levels, but everyone is challenged to improve at a steady rate.  TVE does not endorse any particular religion or creed, but it does help to enhance your own spiritual development, as it is a very calming, supportive, friendly, environment.  It has definitely been very beneficial for me and I would recommend it for anyone for these reasons.
